Richard the Lionheart – the eldest son (Ken Bowald)

Eleanor of Aquitaine – Henry's wife (Celeste Parsons)

Philip Capet – King of France (Joe Balding)

King Henry II of England is aging and everyone wants his crown.
Henry: “God, But I do love being King!”

Henry with his three sons: Richard, John, and Geoffrey.

Eleanor of Acquitaine: “Of course he's got a knife. We've all got knives!”

Rivals: Eleanor and Alais

King Henry II: “I could have conquered Europe, all of it, but I had women in my life.”

Young King Philip of France poses with his sister, Alais.

Richard: “You're still a boy.”
King Philip of France: “In some ways. Which way did you have in mind?”

Eleanor demonstrates her commitment to the son she raised: “To Richard, everything!”

King Henry II: “I want to reach a settlement. I left you with too little earlier.”

King Philip of France: “Yes; nothing is too little.”

Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine: “I even made poor Louis take me on Crusade. I dressed my maids as Amazons and rode bare-breasted halfway to Damascus. Louis had a seizure and I damn near died of windburn but the troops were dazzled.”

Henry discusses weaponry with Prince Geoffrey.

Mother brings a little something to her boys locked in the wine cellar by Henry.

The happy cast relaxes between work sessions.

We celebrate the narrator’s birthday.

The directors join the cast for a final picture.

Richard: “You haven't said you love me.”

John: ”Did I say something wrong? I'm always saying something wrong . . . ”

Alais: “Is there a war?” Henry: “Merry Christmas!”
