Fleeing from the castle Belle is attacked by wolves.  The Beast appears and is injured while saving her from the wolves.

Back at the castle, Belle tends to the Beast's wounds.

The Beast shows Belle his amazing library, and she reads aloud to him the story of King Arthur.

Love is in the air, and the whole staff turns out to celebrate the possibility of the spell being broken and their becoming human again.

At the tavern, Gaston and Lefou hire Monsieur d'Arque, proprietor of the Maison des Lunes lunatic asylum, to incarcerate Belle's father.

Cogsworth and Lumiere try to convince the Beast to declare from the heart his affection for Belle, but he is afraid she will laugh at him.

They waltz as Mrs Potts sings “Beauty and the Beast.”

The Beast sends Belle to find her father, whom she has seen in the Beast's magic mirror wandering lost in the woods.

When Maurice refers to “that terrible beast,” Belle tells him that knowing the Beast has changed her in a way that is good and real.

Monsieur d'Arque comes to abduct Maurice and points to his description of the Beast as evidence of his lunacy.

Belle uses the magic mirror to show the villagers that Maurice's stories of the Beast are true; he is not insane.

Having lost his hold over Belle, Gaston frightens the villagers into a murderous frenzy:  “Kill the Beast!”

In a wild melee, the servants and enchanted objects defend their home and frighten off the villagers.

The Beast and Gaston engage in deadly combat. Gaston is vanquished, but Belle begs the Beast to spare his life.

Gaston stabs the Beast in the back.  As the Beast lies dying, Belle sobs, “Please!  Don't leave me.  Please, I love you.”

The old spell is undone, and the Beast is revealed in his true form, a handsome Prince.

The household staff are delighted to be returned to their human form.  Babette and Lumiere can continue their flirtation.

Madame de la Grande Bouche and Cogsworth have lots to talk about.

Mrs. Potts is reunited with her son, Chip.

Everyone comes out for the curtain call.
